Understanding Hydraulic Cartridge Valves

Hydraulic valves are significant as they facilitate liquid control flow specifically, oil, in a particular mechanism. Selecting suitable valve(s) is crucial job for effective working of any hydraulic system. The Hydraulic Cartridge Valves come in myriad sizes and types. The types and sizes are determined by the pressure of the system and the flow rate. Following are the three main classifications of Values based on three main principles including directional, pressure and flow control :

  • Directional values are used precisely to manage fluid's direction starting from the top to the end of the hydraulic system.
  • When a specific pressure level is required, pressure values are used in appropriate direction.
  • The flow control valves are employed to manage the flow rate of fluid in system effectively.

Apart from the 3 main categorizations of the hydraulic valves as per the requirement, there are many other kinds as well, including :
  • multi-block directional
  • modular, cartridge
  • electro-hydraulic servo
  • electro-hydraulic
  • proportional/digital,
  • micro-hydraulic
  • water pressure control
Multi-block directional incorporates main valve with many that encompass a unidirectional pressure used to centralize control of the machine.  Water pressure valve is the most sage and environment friendly that control water flow and channelizes it in many water hydraulic systems.

Hydraulic valves are significant in managing a complete system. There are 4 different ways valves are installed and connected elaborated as below :
  1. Threaded - used for small flow systems, these valves are as they are lightweight. These are very popular and can be easily mounted in and along pipelines.
  2. Modular - these are mostly used with modeling and pressing machines and are integrated with valve sub-plate in hydraulic power units.
  3. Sandwich - these are very flexible and it can be used as single unit or in part of the hydraulic oil connection. Most of the times these valves are sandwiched between a direction control and a sub-plate in order to connect better with the pipe system.
  4. Cartridge - they are made with sleeves, spring and sealing rings. Valve is inserted into a cavity when all the parts are assembled. The cavity helps protect the parts suitable heavy machine usage.
